CHICAGO FIRE HEAD COACH DENIS HAMLETT:
On the game:
"They got an early goal and we kept pushing and pushing and in the final third we weren't good enough."
On the loss:
"In the end it's very hard to take this defeat because I thought our guys played well."
On lack off scoring:
"In the first couple of games we finished our chances, tonight we get many chances and we just don't finish. It's going to happen in soccer, there's going to be days where you dominate game and you just can't get the goal."
CHICAGO FIRE FORWARD CHAD BARRETT:
On the Fire scoring chances:
"I was involved in a lot of plays towards goal and we would have liked to get one more shot but I didn't get one more shot and that's going to stick with me too."
On the frustration of not finishing a goal:
"It's not as bad as it used to be. I know I can score and I know everything's going to be fine. It's just one day - one bad day and we lose. And it's probably the sickest feeling to lose at home especially to a team that we have dominated here."
CHICAGO FIRE GOALKEEPER JON BUSCH:
On the goal:
"[The ball] just sticks as soon as it bounces and I'm in no-man's-land and I'm screwed. Everybody is thinking, what the [heck] is he doing? It's give-and- take. It's my fault, I take the responsibility and you know, on another day, when the field's wet, the ball slips through and I catch it cleanly and we're off playing. At the end of the day you can look back and say, 'you know what, we had luck last weekend in San Jose and hung on for dear life and pulled off three points, and today we didn't.' And that's the way soccer goes. It is what it is."
KANSAS CITY WIZARDS HEAD COACH CURT ONALFO:
On the win:
"It's great to get three points on the road. We've been on the side of a lot of games where we've had the majority of chances throughout. They certainly had more of the chances, but we found a way to grit it out and get three points on the road."
On scoring early:
"Any time you can score early it puts the other team on their heels. The fact that we were able to put one in four minutes into the game and get our third shutout of the year is a positive for our group."
On beating the Fire:
"We feel like they are a very good team and the fact we held them to no goals today is a tribute to our goalkeeper, Kevin Hartman."
KANSAS CITY WIZARDS MIDFIELDER JACK JEWSBURY:
On playing against the Fire players:
"They have a lot of great, attacking players. It was a lot to handle at times."
On the amount of scoring in the game:
"There were a few times we were very fortunate not to have one put in the back of the net."
On the win:
"Winning this game gives a lot of confidence because we're on the road for the next two months; we don't have another home game until June. To get off to a good start is great and we hope we can keep it going."
