Quotes: D.C. 4, TFC 1

D.C. UNITED 4, TORONTO FC 1

D.C. UNITED FORWARD JAIME MORENO

On his leg:
"I thought it was in better shape. My leg is not there yet -- I was a little bit disappointed. I feel better, but I'm still not 100 percent. I'm not comfortable yet sprinting, and I still have a little bit of fear. I have three days to work on that, and hopefully I'll be good for Wednesday."

D.C. UNITED GOALKEEPER ZACH WELLS

On Laurent Robert:
"Obviously he's a good player, and he has a good history. It's his first game in MLS, so I'm sure he was eager to get his feet wet and make his mark on the game."

On the game:
"It was a bit of a confidence booster. I don't think it was a realistic test because of the red card in the first half. I think that kind of took a lot of pressure off us; we were able to keep possession and move the ball a little bit easier. It'll be different on Wednesday night [against Pachuca] -- they're a good team. We've had two good games at RFK this spring, and hopefully we'll continue that on Wednesday."

D.C. UNITED FORWARD SANTINO QUARANTA

On the game and his return to United:
"It's a humbling experience. I'm ready to do whatever I've got to do every day to be successful. If it means being the first one in here and the last one to leave, than that's what I'll do. I've just been riding this potential train for a long time, and to be able to go out there and work hard for your team and to know you're helping your team win, it's a good feeling and I expect to do that every game. From where I was, just to be out there looking around again, it's emotional for me."

On the game:
"It's not about scoring, it's not about anything -- it's about winning. And that's what we did tonight."

On his teammates:
"You can go down the list of our attackers, and each one's better than the other, and it's such a good combination."

TORONTO FC HEAD COACH JOHN CARVER

On the game and the difficult start:
"You shoot yourself straight in the foot, don't you? After the two goals the game settled down a little bit. And Jeff [Cunningham] had a great chance to pull it back to 2-1, and then we lose Kevin Harmse [via a red car]. I spoke to Kevin before the game about how we need to keep our discipline and within 15, 20 minutes I think it was, he's been sent off. And in fairness, I don't think I can defend him because it was a reckless tackle. So, our backs are up against it two-nil down, and we're down to 10 men but I thought we created one or two half-chances."

On Laurent Robert:
"I think you can see what we got and as he gets fitter, he'll be a big asset to the team. I thought he was our best player, actually. We'll he just cut short, I brought him off just before the end -- about 15, 20 minutes before the end, as a precaution really. I needed fresh legs on there. They didn't give up, we scored a goal late on. But I had to make sure that I protected him as well. I had to bring him off to make sure he didn't get injured. The fitter he gets ... he's only done two practices. He'll get better and better. He has superb from set plays."

TORONTO FC GOALKEEPER GREG SUTTON

On the game:
"It was tough -- when you get two goals down in the first six, seven minutes it was a dagger in the back there. And then when we lost a man there, it got even worst. We tried to emphasize it at the beginning of the game that we have to come out and be ready for anything and we had to have the right mindset, and we just didn't have that tonight."

On why the team didn't have the right mindset:
"I wish I knew. That's the big question and we need to find the answer. We need to learn from what we did tonight and try and find ways to be prepared and we need to start working together as a unit. I think we are relying on individuals and we can't do that. It's not working that way."

On being down two goals and being down a man:
"It's hard. You are trying to fight to get one goal and get back in the game. And then losing a man is hard, especially against a team like D.C. United that possesses the ball so well and attacks so well so you know our game plan changed a little bit. We just tried to stay disciplined and keep shape and try and take advantage of the chances we did get. Unfortunately we weren't able to capitalize until late in the game, which was a little too late but we battled the whole game. It's disappointing not getting the result we wanted."

On the goal:
"It's nice to get the first goal, but I'd rather get the first win. But you just have to put it behind you and move forward and look forward to the next game."
