Quotes: DC 2, CHI 1

D.C. UNITED 2, CHICAGO FIRE 1

CHICAGO FIRE HEAD COACH DENIS HAMLETT

On the game:

"Obviously it was disappointing to lose at end of the game like that. It wasn't our best game. We had a good start, I think we played well for the first 15 minutes but we didn't get out of first gear. Jon Busch had quite a few saves that kept us in the game tonight."

CHICAGO FIRE GOALKEEPER JON BUSCH

On the game:

"D.C. is a good team and my job is to save shots. Some days I don't see many, like in New York. Some, like today, I see a lot."

On the second goal:

"It was 1-1 late in the game, we're at home and we want to get that second goal; but we've got to be smart too. We can't have Diego one-on-one. We talked about on the corner kick prior to that that was also one-on-one in the back, we've got to have cover, unless you playing for your life."

CHICAGO FIRE FORWARD CHAD BARRETT

On his goal:

"There was a 50/50 ball and John [Thorrington] did a good job of possessing it. The ball got hit and it hit -- I think Simms -- and the ball went right to Blanco, but I think he was offside and it was him against Peralta and Blanco played a good through ball to me. I took a good first touch, but I think the ball would have gone out of bounds if I waited too long. He probably caught me and as I shot it -- he kind of bumped me a bit -- and it looked like he caught the ball a little bit, but it went in."

D.C. UNITED HEAD COACH TOM SOEHN

On the team's performance:

"I thought we had the better of them. Obviously we changed when the cards came, but I give the guys a lot of credit -- they fought even when we were down a man. It is a great victory for us and we want to keep building on what we have. The team is getting better, and everyone is taking on their roles a little more."

D.C. UNITED CAPTAIN JAIME MORENO

On earning three points:

"We are happy with the three points but we are not satisfied, there is still a lot of soccer to be played. The most important thing is to play consistently. We have to continue and keep working hard because, at the end of the day, if we play good like this game tonight and play bad in the next game, it isn't good. Hopefully we can continue what we have started."
