COLUMBUS CREW 3, SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES 2

SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES HEAD COACH FRANK YALLOP

On the game:
"We are obviously disappointed to lose the match, after scoring two at home and conceding three. I think Columbus is a good team and we can't take that away from them."

On Ronnie O'Brien's first-half shot:
"I think Ronnie's chance in the first half to get out one-nil would have been a good opportunity for us to get ahead in the game and it might have affected our play, but there is no blame there. It is just disappointing that we score two at home and not win."

On Columbus' offensive attack:
"We weren't at our best closing them down the in our half in the first half, and we did not do it really well in the second half in critical parts of the game. When someone is running free we have to have a clear runner step up to the ball. It was two good runs and goals from (Robbie) Rogers, but I wish we could have caught up to him. It is just disappointing."

SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES MIDFIELDER RYAN JOHNSON

On his first goal:
"The ball had a lot of pace on it, so all I had to do was get a head on it and put it in. I am glad that I was able to contribute a bit to the team. We tried to get back in the game late, but we couldn't get the next goal."

On game:
"We dodged some bullets early in the game, but that caught up with us later when they scored those three quick goals. It was nice to get some goals today, but we cannot give up three goals like that at home."

SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES MIDFIELDER RONNIE O'BRIEN

On the team:
"To be honest, we are doing fairly well overall, but we just have not gotten the results. With a bit of luck and a couple of bounces we could be looking at some different results. We need to stay focused throughout the whole game and the results will come."

On the second half:
"We made some sloppy plays in midfield and they turned those into three quick goals. As a team, we cannot allow that to happen. Columbus played well and did what they needed to do to win the game."

COLUMBUS CREW HEAD COACH SIGI SCHMID

On the game:
"We talked during half time on getting Robbie Rogers back into the game because the first 20 minutes we were very effective attacking on the left-hand side. I thought the substitution with Emmanuel Ekpo on the right side was good. We felt he could get some space to play in and he was able to make a difference for us tonight."

On Robbie Rogers:
"I told Robbie the confidence has to come from within you. If you need confidence to come from the coach and from outside sources you are not going to make it as far as you want to make it. I just told him just keep fighting and it will come. The only change we made was in New York during halftime, we moved him from the right side to the left side. The rest has been all Robbie."

On playing at Buck Shaw:
"The venue is small and the surface is good. During my years with the Galaxy I always loved coming here -- before they had the Galaxy-Chivas clasico, I thought that was the big game. There was always a great atmosphere. The fans can be brutal sometimes but all is fair in love and war. This will be a tough venue to play in."

COLUMBUS CREW FORWARD ALEJANDRO MORENO

On being back in San Jose:
"I had a really good time when I was here in San Jose, the people were great to me and I had a very good season. I was really happy to be back and happier now that we got a victory."

On San Jose as a team:
"I think at times they were pretty good, but we found ways to get through their defenders. We exploited Robbie Rogers' speed; we created chances in the first half and were able to take advantage of the chances on the second half. It is a well-deserved victory for us."
