Quotes: CHV 3, RSL 1

CHIVAS USA 3, REAL SALT LAKE 1

CHIVAS USA HEAD COACH PREKI:

On Chivas USA's performance:

"It was very important for us to get three points in our first home game. We didn't play the way we wanted to play, but sometimes games don't work out the way you want them to work out. On the other hand we are happy. I think we could play a lot better, but we got the three points."

On Real Salt Lake's performance:

"We got three points against Real Salt Lake tonight. They gave us a good game, a hard game. I don't think we were at our best, but remembering last year I don't think we were at our best for a couple months."

On Chivas USA's injuries:

"It's something that has been happening to us throughout the whole preseason. In many ways we are not in tune, what we do on the field. It's going to take a us a little bit of time before we start playing the way we are capable of playing."

CHIVAS USA FORWARD ATIBA HARRIS:

On Chivas USA's performance:

"We started off a bit slowly, it wasn't our best game, but we came out with three points. That's the key."

On his goal:

"Preki has been telling me all the time, to just attack the goal like it's a matter of life and death. And that's what I did. I saw Sacha (Kljestan), I knew the ball was going to go to him, he just slid the ball into the box and it went into the goal."

On scoring against his former team:

"It's great to score my first goal for my new club."

REAL SALT LAKE HEAD COACH JASON KREIS

On the result:

"I would say the results are misleading, for them to score a goal in the last 20 minutes of the game and we're chasing it, it's typical. For me the game was very evenly played, I thought Chivas -- all the respect to them, they played very well, but I'm very proud of my guys. I'm definitely proud of the way that they came out on that game, I'm proud of the way they tried to play soccer in the entire game, and I'm proud of the way they responded to going a goal down and going two goals down."

On his team's performance:

"I think that they put their hearts and souls into it and I feel like we're getting out of a game not getting quite what we deserve."

REAL SALT LAKE DEFENDER IAN JOY

On the defeat:

"The game was a little bit unfortunate. I thought we had a decent performance, and unfortunately we had chances, getting guys in good positions, unfortunately the ball is just not going in to the back of the net. But I think that if we keep playing as well as we're playing at the moment, as long as we play good we're strong. Unfortunately we're making a few mistakes in midfield and defense, but I think we're on a good road, if we keep playing the same way we'll get some good results, but it only takes time."

REAL SALT LAKE FORWARD KENNY DEUCHAR

On the team's reaction after the second goal:

"We had a couple of chances after that, Yura put a great ball across, but I was a wee bit off and then they went up the park and scored the third one in injury time and then that's it -- it's finished. But we caused them all sorts of problems in the second half, and it just shows you we were two-nil down and it shows a lot of character to get back in the game. We were just unlucky there at the end that they killed off the game. We have to do better, we basically gifted them the two goals; we've just have to do better than that."

On the positives from the game:

"Well I think one of the positives is that Chivas was one of the top teams last year and we've come to their ground and we've given them a very good game -- especially in the second half -- and it was early mistakes that really cost us. We had a lot of really good chances, obviously we got a goal, but we've got to do better. We cannot keep giving away silly goals like that and we have to take more of our own chances as well."
