fitness is not an issue with him."

On Jaime Moreno's goal:
"He had an IV [in] when I got into work today because he has been sick. I told him I'd inject him with a virus before every game. He was fantastic today, showed a lot of composure. I've always said this: he makes our team better. He makes the guys around him better."

On Luciano Emilio's goals:
"A lot of his stuff he doesn't get credit for. Obviously he gets credit for the goals he scores. But the work he does -- making it hard to play against you, and he beats up backs. He's a workaholic. He's done a great job for us."

On Brian Carroll's assist:
"That comes from fresh legs, and Brian has kept a great attitude through the whole season. He is one of those guys who is a professional. We had them under a lot of pressure and he took advantage of that. He had a run that was one of the runs of his career. It was a great play."

On the team's confidence:
"We still have a long way to go. We always have a lot of new guys in the picture. You know, the system stays the same, but the pieces change and they keep everybody fresh. I think the three substitutions we made impacted the game today. We were able to bring seasoned veterans in, and a lot of teams don't have that. We want to keep it going, but there are a lot more games to go."

On not starting Bobby Boswell:
"We have to manage ourselves. Every three days we have a game, and we have to manage that. We have an open relationship and I tell all the guys. Devon was fresh because he had some rest, and he was a great piece today because he was fresh."

On the fans:
"We have the best fans in the league. The more games we have in D.C., the better our chances are."

D.C. UNITED FORWARD JAIME MORENO

On the pregame ceremony:
"It was a very special moment for me and my family. It is something that I'll always remember for the rest of my life."

On the game:
I'm very happy we won, I think we played very well, we worked really hard, and we've got the three points at home which was very important.

On his goal:
"I am very happy to get out on the scoring front. The previous four goals I had scored were penalty kicks so it was very good to score a goal in a run of play."

D.C. UNITED FORWARD LUCIANO EMILIO

On the game and his goals:
"Regarding the question of the 20 goals, I think its something I can reach with hard work and sacrifice and maybe even score over 20. But I think it's important that we got the win. As far as the goals scored, on the first one I was lucky obviously, I was just there at the right time when Christian hit it towards the goal and it just deflected on me. And on the second one, I think I was one of the only few players on the field that believed that BC [Brian Carroll] could crossed the ball over, so I just made that run and luckily it found me so I was able to knock it in with my head."

On Jaime Moreno and what he means to this team:
"I think Jaime is the face of the team, when he is on the field people respect us -- he is a leader and on the field he is a great player. Overall, I think that having Jaime on the team gives us the respect that without him we wouldn't get."

On being five goals away for the United single season record:
"I didn't know about the record, but if there is the possibility of breaking the record I will try -- [but] that is not my main concern. My focus is to play well for the team in order for the team to win."

NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION HEAD COACH STEVE NICOL

On the play on the sideline between Smith and Olsen:
"I don't know if he (the referee) saw it (a foul), but if he did see it, are you kidding me? What are we supposed to do? We can set up to play against a team, but we can't set up to play against the officials."

On the team's inability to get three straight wins:
"That tells you something doesn't it? It tells you that the league is tough and that every game is tough. We haven't gotten three straight wins because we haven't done enough."

On his team's effort:
"I have no complaints with the effort. We made a couple of bad mistakes, that's all."

NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION FORWARD TAYLOR TWELLMAN

On Jay Heaps' go-ahead goal:
"Well, it wasn't that fluky, there was a loose ball and Jay made sure it crossed the line, but we have to do a better job of finishing games out this year."

On which team was more to credit for the result:
"It was a good combination of both. I think we are not helping ourselves right now, we are shooting ourselves in the foot by playing bad soccer and giving the ball away and not helping each other out."

On controversy in both matches with United this year:
"I don't know. There wasn't a lot of controversy today. D.C. won."

On the Revs' play in the first half:
"Actually, we weren't even too happy with how we played in the first half. We were lucky to get the goal at the end of the half, but D.C. outplayed us today."

NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION DEFENDER JAY HEAPS

On the outcome of the game:
"That [bad calls] happens and we need to respond to that. We need to finish these games. We had the lead 2-1, we had a lot of heart and we lost it. We fought back hard but we gave it away and they scored on three of their four chances in the second half."

On United's go-ahead goal:
"We were a little upset that there wasn't a call there. I don't know why he wasn't calling it, I don't understand it, but it deflated us pretty good. Ben Olsen and Kenny Smith kind of tangled for the ball, and Kenny had won the ball and was about to move on and Olsen kicked his back leg. It was clear as day, but the ref moved on."
