Quotes: CHI 2, COL 1

CHICAGO FIRE 2, COLORADO RAPIDS 1

CHICAGO FIRE HEAD COACH DENIS HAMLETT:

On the play of the Fire forwards:
"I think our attacking group played well, I think from the first minute their movement was good and they created some chances just like last week. Last week we didn't finish on those chances but tonight a different guy stepped up and finished on two. We got the win and that is the important thing."

On the Thorrington making a statement to stay in the lineup:
"He sure did. He had two great chances and was able to finish both."

CHICAGO FIRE GOALKEEPER JON BUSCH:

On the match:
"I thought we played pretty well, we moved the ball well which is obviously our strength with the players we have out there. We get the ball moving and not many people can keep up with it. Defensively it's been the same all season so far. Guys in front of me: Bakary [Soumare], Diego [Gutierrez], Gonzalo [Segares], Brandon [Prideaux] -- they're fantastic. They are limiting a lot of what I have to do and that's good for me. I organize them and keep them tight and you know, we give up one goal or less usually almost every game so that's nice.

CHICAGO FIRE MIDFIELDER JOHN THORRINGTON:

On his goals:
"I just think that both of them were from good approach play from my teammates and I just happen to be in the box at the right time. The first one I don't exactly remember how the ball popped out to me and my thought was just to try to keep it down and hit the target. Thankfully I did and the second one Justin [Mapp] made a great run and played a great ball to me and all I have to do was to take a touch and slot it in. My memory of both of them was thanks to the play of my teammates who got me in those positions."

COLORADO RAPIDS HEAD COACH FERNANDO CLAVIJO:

On the loss:
"It was a good game, except for 10 minutes. They took advantage of our own mistakes and they were able to score. I'm a little upset because I thought we deserved better."

On the play of the game:
"We played well and possessed well, but they are a very good team. They are coming off a loss to Kansas City at home, so we knew they come out with a lot of energy. I thought they possessed well, created chances and sent people forward. We didn't score but we were still pleased with the way we played. We need to sustain our play for 90 minutes of play like we did in the first two games and for 10 minutes we were not able and it cost us the game."

COLORADO RAPIDS FORWARD TOM McMANUS:

On the game and his goal:
"We played really well in the first half and created a few chances, but for 20 minutes in the first half we just switched off and it cost us the game. I was happy to get my first goal, but it didn't count for anything because we lost tonight."
