Quakes, Microsoft donate tix to children

SAN JOSE, Calif. --
The San Jose Earthquakes have announced that the team in partnership with Microsoft has donated 1000 tickets for the Earthquakes home opener against Cuauhtémoc Blanco and the Chicago Fire on Saturday, April 12 at McAfee Coliseum. The home opener kicks off at 1:30 p.m. PT. The tickets have been donated to underprivileged Hispanic youth throughout the Bay Area.

The Central Valley league, Sunnyvale league, Mid Peninsula league and the Winchester league, along with other local leagues are beneficiaries of the Quakes partnership with Microsoft.

"We are very excited and privileged to have Microsoft join the Earthquakes family," stated David Alioto, Executive Vice President for the San Jose Earthquakes. "We look forward to working with Microsoft and continue to make soccer available to all members of our community."

"Microsoft is delighted to be able to not just open the doors of technology to the Hispanic community but also to provide real opportunities for local children to participate in events that inspire them to pursue their passions and dreams," said Jim Lisiak, Senior Director at Microsoft. "Soccer, like many sports, has proven to be catalyst for inspiring children to stay in school-in short, the confidence they gain on the pitch often translates to big wins in their future."

Microsoft also donated tickets to the Mexican American Community Services Agency (MACSA). Major League Soccer together with the Earthquakes will provide transportation for the children from MACSA to McAfee Coliseum on Saturday.

"The donation of 140 tickets and bus transportation for youth who are involved in our indoor soccer program is a dream come true for many soccer fans who usually do not have the means to experience a professional game," stated Olivia Mendiola, CEO of MACSA. "It is through partnerships like these between non-profit/for-profit that make a world of difference when we talk about providing opportunities to our lower income community."
