Quakes announce player injuries

Quakes forward Peguero Jean Philippe (L) is out for the season with internal derangement in his right knee.

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Earthquakes announced that they have placed forward Peguero Jean Philippe on the season-ending injury list and defender Jay Ayres on the six-week disabled list. The two players are now not currently on the Earthquakes active 18-man roster.


Jean Philippe, who is out with internal derangement in his right knee, signed with the Quakes on April 24. He appeared in three games this season, including one start on May 10 against the Columbus Crew. He also played against the New York Red Bulls on April 27 and FC Dallas on May 3.


Ayres is out with a facial fracture that he suffered on April 30 in a U.S. Open Cup play-in match against Real Salt Lake in Salt Lake City. He has also appeared in one reserve league match this season.
