Steve Powell

The Houston Dynamo announced Wednesday that Steve Powell has been promoted to the role of Senior Vice President, Business Development. Powell has been Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, since joining the Dynamo in 2006. Powell has worked in Major League Soccer at the club and league level since 1996, previously an executive with the former Tampa Bay Mutiny, San Jose Earthquakes, and New York Red Bulls.

Powell's new role with the Dynamo will be expanded to include management of the club's charitable functions, overseeing sales and marketing of Dynamo Camps and planning for the team's prospective training facility, and management of sales strategies that interface ticket sales and sponsorships. Powell will continue to manage ticket sales and box office/customer service for the club.

"This is a very positive announcement for both Steve and the organization," said Dynamo Chief Operating Officer Chris Canetti. "Steve has been an invaluable part of our business over the last two years and this promotion is a result of his successful contributions and the organization's need to achieve further growth."

Said Powell of the appointment: "I am very grateful to the Dynamo and Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG) for providing me this opportunity to assist in the further growth of the Dynamo organization. The Dynamo and MLS currently stand on the cusp of greatness and I look forward to being a part of that in the future."
