Pizza Hut Park hosts Mexican First Division teams Tigres and San Luis for preseason training, game

FRISCO, Texas - FC Dallas and Pizza Hut Park announced today that Mexican First Division clubs Tigres UANL and San Luis Potosi will conduct a portion of their preseason at the Pizza Hut Park complex in Frisco, culminating in a match against each other on Sat., July 14 at 8 pm CT. Tigres will first play FC Dallas at Pizza Hut Park in the return-leg of the Rio Grande Plate on Wednesday, July 11 (7:30 pm).


"We're looking forward to hosting San Luis and Tigres at Pizza Hut Park for their preseason training," said FC Dallas and Pizza Hut Park General Manager Michael Hitchcock. "We're confident that Pizza Hut Park will become an annual preseason destination for Mexican First Division clubs to train at our world-class complex and play important preparation matches in our state-of-the-art stadium. All while experiencing great Texas hospitality."


• Tigres arrives on Tuesday, July 10 and will train at the complex through Sun, July 15.
• San Luis will train at Pizza Hut Park from July 9 through July 18.
• The preseason meeting between the two teams on July 14 will be a preview to 2007 Mexican League season opener, when San Luis visits Tigres on August 4 at Estadio Universitario.
• In 2006, Everton FC from the English Premier League became the first foreign club to conduct a portion of their preseason at Pizza Hut Park, when they trained at the complex from July 27-August 2 and included a friendly match versus Club America at the stadium.
• San Luis, coached by Raul Arias and led by former Mexican National Team midfielder Braulio Luno, will become the 13th different Mexican First Division team to play at Pizza Hut Park since the stadium opened in August 2005.
• The other top-level Mexican clubs to play at the home of FC Dallas are: Atlas, Chivas, Club America, Cruz Azul, Jaguares (Chiapas), Monterrey, Morelia, Necaxa, Pachuca, Tecos, Tigres and Veracruz.
• Tigres, led by Argentine-coach Américo Rubén Gallego and Mexican National Team star forward Francisco "Kikin" Fonseca will make their fourth visit Pizza Hut Park, after having competed in the InterLiga tournament the past two January's as well as in the 2006 Rio Grande Plate. Tigres is 1-1-1 at PHP, having defeated Necaxa 3-2 (Jan. 7, 2006), tied Cruz Azul 1-1 (Jan. 5, 2007), and lost to FCD 2-0 on July 19, 2006.


FC Dallas will visit Tigres on Sat. July 7 for the first game of the second-annual Rio Grande Plate, which will be played at Estadio Universitario in Monterrey, Mexico. The two teams return to play the second-leg of the aggregate goal friendly series at Pizza Hut Park on July 11 (7 pm CT). Last year, FC Dallas won the inaugural Rio Grande Plate 5-3 on penalty kicks in Mexico after the teams tied the aggregate goal series 2-2, with each team winning their home games 2-0.
