O'Rourke taken by Toronto FC in 2006 MLS Expansion Draft

SECAUCUS, N.J. - New York Red Bulls midfielder Danny O'Rourke was selected by Toronto FC in the 2006 MLS Expansion Draft today.

The two-year veteran recorded two assists during the 2006 season for the Red Bulls, where he started a career-high 27 games. Prior to being acquired by New York in exchange for Adrian Serioux on March 24, 2006, the Hermann Trophy winner from Indiana University played his rookie season in San Jose (now the Houston Dynamo), starting in 12 contests.

O'Rourke was one of 14 players left unprotected by the Red Bulls. Each team was allowed to protect 11 players from their roster. Generation adidas players, including New York's Josmer "Jozy" Altidore and David Arvizu, were automatically protected and exempt from selection.
