Nunez called up to Honduran National Team

CARSON, Calif. - Chivas USA midfielder Ramón Núñez has been called up by Honduran National Team coach Reinaldo Rueda for the Catrachos' upcoming friendly versus Panama on Oct. 14 in the Honduran capital city of Tegucigalpa.

"I am honored, as always, to have been called up by Honduras," said the 21-year-old Núñez. "I hope to continue to work hard, to give my best effort and contribute in every way possible."

Núñez travels today to Honduras ahead of the opening of Honduras' camp tomorrow, Oct. 10. He will thus be unavailable for Chivas USA's upcoming matches against FC Dallas (Oct. 11) and the Colorado Rapids (Oct. 14).

Núñez made his international debut for Honduras in September, when he participated in friendlies against Costa Rica and Ecuador. Previously, Núñez represented Honduras at the youth national team level, including at the 2005 FIFA World Youth Championship in Holland.

Born in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, and raised in Dallas, Texas, Núñez was acquired by Chivas USA on Aug. 15 in a trade with FC Dallas.

Núñez is expected to be back and available for selection for Chivas USA's Season Closer against Houston Dynamo on Oct. 20 at The Home Depot Center.
