Ngwenya to try out for German side

Joesph Ngwenya will train with Alemannia Aachen of the German second division.

Houston Dynamo forward Joseph Ngwenya has joined German second division team Alemannia Aachen for an opportunity to train with the team, with the opportunity for a tryout with the Bundesliga club.

Ngwenya scored the tying goal (61st minute) in the Dynamo 2-1 victory over New England in MLS Cup 2007 at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C. Ngwenya was the 2007 Houston Dynamo Budweiser Golden Boot winner, awarded to the player with the most goals, plus assists in the event of a tie, in the Major League Soccer regular season. Ngwenya tallied seven regular-season goals, including a goal in Chicago on July 12 that is regarded throughout MLS as one of the best goals of the year.

The Dynamo retains Ngwenya's MLS rights and the native of Zimbabwe could return to the Dynamo depending on the success of his visit to northwest Germany. "I'm here in Germany to train for a week and see what it is like in the second Bundesliga," said Ngwenya. "I always do a little training in Europe after the season and if an opportunity comes up, great, but if not I'll be back in Orange next year. Either way I hope this experience will help get me better as a player."

Ngwenya was obtained in a midseason trade with Columbus for Alejandro Moreno and appeared in 25 games for the Dynamo.
