Next Up: Challenge Cup!

The Quakes will make one of their final treks of the preseason to Charleston, South Carolina to play in the Carolina Challenge Cup against the Charleston Battery (USL First Division), Toronto FC and the New York Red Bulls from March 13 - 23. Click here for more.


With their first entry into the cup the San Jose Earthquakes won the 2005 competition. In the short history of this tournament, the champion has gone on to win one of the two year-end MLS trophies, the MLS Supporters' Shield or MLS Cup.


The games for the tournament will be played at Blackbaud Stadium, home of the Battery. The team kicks off the tournament with a match against Toronto FC on March 15 at 6 p.m. ET. The Quakes next play the Battery on March 19 at 8:15 p.m. ET and finish up the tournament with a game against the Red Bulls on March 22 at 8:15 p.m. ET.


After training in the Bay Area for one final week, the Earthquakes kick off the 2008 MLS season on the road Thursday May 3rd, at the LA Galaxy airing live on ESPN2. The first Quakes home game is Saturday, April 12 against the Chicago Fire at 1:00 p.m. PT at McAfee Coliseum in Oakland.

March 22 - Earthquakes vs. Red Bulls at 8:15 p.m. ET.
Monday, March 24 - Wednesday, April 2: Training in the Bay Area.


Thursday, April 3: MLS regular season opening - Earthquakes vs. Los Angeles Galaxy at 7:30 p.m. at The Home Depot Center in Carson.


Saturday, April 12: Home opener - Earthquakes vs. Chicago Fire at 1:30 p.m. at McAfee Coliseum in Oakland.
