Mr. O's Return

Pat Onstad is back with the Houston Dynamo for the first time since winning the MLS Cup. Onstad was the 2007 co-MVP for the Dynamo, and his teammates know having him back will give this team a boost before preseason starts to heat up.

"The best part of soccer is to represent your country," said Onstad. "Nothing is more delightful than coming back home and seeing some familiar faces. I enjoyed my time with the National Team, but now it's time to get ready for the MLS season."

The team will be heading to San Jose next week and then to Hawaii the following week to compete in the Pan Pacific Championship. While the rest of the team is slowly getting in the groove of things, Onstad's activity with the Canadian National Team will be instrumental once the tournament gets started in Hawaii.

"Since I've been playing on the National team I might be a little more conditioned than most of the guys that have just started camp," said Onstad. "Hopefully, playing for the National Team will give me an advantage going into the Pan Pacific Championship tournament."

The Dynamo will be going for a three-peat and needs everyone to contribute for this accomplishment to happen this year.

"I know the team will be ready to go when the season starts," said Onstad. "All our players will have about two months to prepare before the MLS tournament gets going again. This season is going to be something special, and I am happy to be doing it with this group of guys."
