MONARCAS MORELIA 3, REAL SALT LAKE 1
REAL SALT LAKE HEAD COACH JOHN ELLINGER
On the physical nature of the game:
"There is no such thing as a friendly. I don't know why they call it a friendly. We'll have to come up with a better name; we'll have to think of one. I figured there would be a lot of yellows."
On the future schedule:
"It's good to get this one out of the way, so that we can get back to focusing in on Saturday because it's a huge game on Saturday."
REAL SALT LAKE MIDFIELDER MEHDI BALLOUCHY
On play in the first half:
"I think in the first have we did better because we were fresh. Morelia kept the ball better; we did a lot of chasing. We got tired, and we couldn't win it."
On RSL effort:
"We were very competitive. I don't feel like we did less of an effort. I thought that we did as well as we could do, and they got their good chances, and they finished them."
REAL SALT LAKE DEFENDER ADAM ACOSTA
On his Rice-Eccles debut:
"I was a little nervous getting in there. It was definitely difficult dealing with the noise playing in the back. It is the first time playing in the back for me in a real game, other than just a reserve game. It was a good learning experience for us younger guys.
On the scoring the game-winning-goal:
"Mehdi Ballouchy played a great ball. It was hard to judge for the other team. I thought he (defender) was going to head it and he didn't; just reaction hit it off my left shin, I guess, lower ankle. It went in; what more can you ask for."
