Moor, Alvarez, McCarty called to U.S. camps

FRISCO, Texas - FC Dallas defender Drew Moor today was named by U.S. Men's National Team head coach Bob Bradley among the 26 players that will begin a training camp on Jan. 3 at U.S. Soccer's National Training Center at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. The group will prepare for the USA's first match of 2008, a friendly against Sweden on Jan. 19 at The Home Depot Center. This is Moor's second call up to the U.S. Men's National Team, and first since making his international debut at the 2007 Copa America, playing against Paraguay on July 2 and making his second appearance on July 5 versus Colombia.


In addition, FCD midfielders Arturo Alvarez and Dax McCarty will join the U.S. Under-23 Men's National Team for a two-week training camp from January 6-20 at IMG Academies in Bradenton, Fla. The camp is part of the team's preparation for the final round of the 2008 CONCACAF Men's Under-23 Championship to be held from March 11-23, 2008. Eight of the 24 players called in to this U-23 camp, including Alvarez and McCarty, were part of the team that earned two draws against China during a December tour of the 2008 Olympic host country.


After the Sweden match, the U.S. MNT will host regional rivals Mexico on Feb. 6 at Reliant Stadium in Houston. Along with a series of friendlies, the United States will begin the attempt to qualify for their sixth-consecutive World Cup finals when they take on the winner of the first round series between Barbados and Dominica. The U.S. will host their first qualifier between June 11-14, with the second leg to be played between June 18-21 on the road.


The U.S. U-23's will begin qualifying for the 2008 Olympic Games on March 11 in Tampa against Cuba, then face Panama on March 13 and Honduras on March 15 to round out group play.
