Mo on McBride

TFC Director of Soccer Mo Johnston has been speaking about former Fulham forward Brian McBride.

Toronto FC Manager and Director of Soccer Mo Johnston spoke with the media on Thursday following Brian McBride's announcement that he wants to return to MLS.

The striker has been playing in the English Premiership with Fulham, but is now looking to return to North America, and Toronto FC hold top spot in the allocation order.

"We're exploring every avenue," said Johnston. "Obviously we have the allocation slot so we'll look at it. We've been speaking to numerous clubs and we'll see how it goes."

"If he doesn't end up here, we're looking for something very big, but we have an interest too. If you look at his past record, on and off the field he would be a tremendous acquisition for any team. You just have to look at how he has performed in England. He was the main factor in keeping Fulham up this year. He's decided to come home and fortunately for us we have the number one slot and we're sitting on a real pot of gold right now."

"He's 35 but that doesn't matter because he handles himself very well. He's in good condition and he's coming from the Premiership, not a second rate league."

McBride joined Fulham in January 2004 and scored 40 goals for the Cottagers. He also played for Preston North End and Everton. Before moving to England, McBride played in MLS with Columbus Crew.
