MLS Soccer Jam kicks off 2007 Sierra Mist MLS All-Star Game

NEW YORK - Major League Soccer fans and Celtic FC supporters from across the country and around the globe will kick off the 2007 Sierra Mist MLS All-Star Game festivities with MLS Soccer Jam, on Wednesday, July 18 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Skyline Park in downtown Denver. This outdoor festival, celebrating the League's 12th annual midseason showcase, will feature performances from the bands Kinky and The Academy Is ..., food and drinks and an appearance by the Sierra Mist Freestyle Juggling Team. MLS Soccer Jam is a FREE event open to the public.


Fans can enjoy soccer demonstrations by MLS players and relax in the Budweiser Beer Garden. Denver-area radio station 93.3 Modern Rock will be on the air live at MLS Soccer Jam and will be giving away All-Star game tickets, and various other prizes.


MLS and Celtic FC supporters will also face each other in the "World Supporters Cup," a small-sided soccer tournament. Along with the inaugural "World Supporters Cup," MLS All-Stars, Colorado Rapids players and national media personalities will participate in a Futvolley tournament featuring eight (8) teams of two (2) playing a 2-v-2 soccer-tennis style single-elimination competition.


MLS Soccer Jam will take place against a musical background with Kinky, The Academy Is ... and more set to perform live on the Burger King stage. MLS player autographs will be available and fans may take pictures in front of the 2007 All Star Backdrop.

The 2007 Sierra Mist MLS All-Star Game will feature the best in Major League Soccer versus Celtic FC of the Scottish Premier League. The game will be played on July 19 at 7:00 p.m. MT at Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colo., the new home of the Colorado Rapids. This will be the fourth time that the Sierra Mist MLS All-Star Game has followed this format, adopted to ensure the most intriguing All-Star spectacle in U.S. professional sports. Last year, the MLS All-Stars defeated English Premier League power Chelsea FC, 1-0, at Toyota Park in Bridgeview, Ill. on a goal by Houston Dynamo midfielder Dwayne De Rosario. In 2005, the MLS stars defeated English Premier League club Fulham FC, 4-1, at Crew Stadium in Columbus, Ohio. In 2003, the MLS All-Stars downed Mexican club Chivas de Guadalajara, 3-1, at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif.
