MLS gives fans their big shot in online contest

NEW YORK - Major League Soccer announced today that it has launched MLS Big Shot, the first user-generated contest on MLSnet.com, the League's official website. MLS fans will have the opportunity to submit their own video footage of a great goal within an official match and be eligible to win an assortment of MLS prizes.

Original video submissions for this inaugural contest can be uploaded via MLSnet.com beginning today and concluding through 5:00 p.m. (EDT) on October 26, 2007. A panel of MLSnet.com officials will select finalists among the entries. Beginning October 27, fans can view each of the finalists' videos and cast their votes for their favorite exclusively online at MLSnet.com. The voting period will conclude at 5:00 p.m. (EST) on November 9.

"We are excited to provide a user-generated content platform that provides our supporters the opportunity to showcase their most memorable goal to other soccer fans," said MLS Senior Vice President Dan Courtemanche. "We expect to see many amazing goals submitted from official matches at all levels of competition."

The MLS Big Shot grand prize winner will be announced exclusively on MLSnet.com at the conclusion of the voting period.

All submissions are subject to the Official Rules and Guidelines. For more information, see the MLS Big Shot Contest here.
