MLS Fantasy Tips: Week Six

Fantasy owners would be wise to continue riding the wave with Amado Guevara and Toronto FC.

2 ShO, 0.60 GAA
• Alejandro Moreno -- 4G, 1A
• Landon Donovan -- 8G, 2A
• David Beckham -- 1G, 4A

Those in a slump, for various reasons, are:

• Luciano Emilio -- 1G, 1A (20G, 1A last season)
• Juan Pablo Angel -- 0G, 1A (19G, 5A last season)
• Christian Gomez -- 1G, 1A (10G, 9A last season
• Maykel Galindo -- 1G, 1A (12G, 5A last season)

Kenny Cooper, Greg Sutton and David Beckham have looked very good coming back from major injuries last year while Taylor Twellman, Chris Albright, Ante Razov, Steve Ralston and Stuart Holden are some of the star players that have missed substantial time this year due to major injuries.

So, make sure you are looking at this year's results and not living in the past or it could hurt your fantasy team!

This week's focus: Top undervalued goalkeepers:

Jon Busch (CHI, $250,000). Last year's backup has shown he belongs with the best in the league, having only allowed three goals in five games this season.

Greg Sutton (TOR, $300,000). With two shutouts in his last two games, Sutton has come back from his injury-marred season of last year. The improved additions in the midfield have led to better possession of the ball, taking pressure off the defense.

Jon Conway (NY, $301,000). Now that he has the position all to himself, after sharing it with the now retired Ronald Waterreus, Conway has showed that he deserves it, allowing only three goals in four games.

Zach Wells (DC, $280,000). The former Dynamo backup 'keeper is beginning to communicate better with his new backline. Once they get used to playing together, this will be a much stronger unit.

Tip of the week: Don't get stuck with too many Toronto and Kansas City players. Next week they are both idle.

This week's Top XI for points:Goalkeeper: Matt Reis (NE). Having played every minute in 84 consecutive games for the Revs dating back to September 2005, Reis can be counted on to be in your starting lineup. He should score big points at home against an offensively inconsistent Fire team.

Defender: Jose Burciaga Jr. (COL). The Texas native is always a threat to score out of the backline. With one goal and one assist this season, look for him to add to this total at home against a D.C. team that hasn't scored an away goal yet this season.

Defender: Wade Barrett (HOU). The 12th overall pick in 1998 out of William & Mary, Barrett is playing at home against Chivas. With starting 'keeper Pat Onstad back from injury and Chivas USA's Maykel Galindo hobbling, look for shutout points here.

Defender: Michael Parkhurst (NE). With a home game this week against the Fire, look for the Wake Forest product to help the Revs add their third shutout of the season.

Midfielder: Robbie Rogers (CLB). One of the leading shot takers in MLS this season, with half on goal, the 20-year-old Olympic hopeful has scored two goals this season. Playing at home in Crew Stadium against K.C. should help to add to that.

Midfielder: David Beckham (LA). With one goal and four assists this season, Beckham has been a huge part of the Galaxy's scoring success. And, with his help in the possession game, he has helped to elevate Donovan to another level. Playing against the inconsistent RSL this week, we believe will result in points on the board.

Midfielder: Amado Guevara (TOR). The 2004 MLS MVP has proven to be the addition that Toronto has needed to get over the hump. With two goals in his last game and an assist in his other game this season, Guevara has proven he's still got it after his one-year hiatus from MLS.

Midfielder: Brad Davis (HOU). The third overall choice in the 2002 SuperDraft out of Saint Louis University has had a tough start to the season. Playing at home against Chivas, who have allowed 10 goals in three away games, should help to get him started.

Forward: Brian Ching (HOU). The 29-year-old U.S. international has not been able to put the ball in the net so far this season. His slump should end this week at home against Chivas, who have not played well away from home.

Forward: Landon Donovan (LA). The USA's all-time leading scorer at the age of 26, Landon is setting his sights on the MLS record. With eight goals to start the year and now 72 for his MLS league career, he is well on his way to getting there.

Forward: Alejandro Moreno (CLB). With four goals and an assist already this season, Moreno should be able to add to his outstanding start with a home game against K.C. this week.
