Real Salt Lake suffered their first loss of the preseason, falling 3-2 to Lynn University in a 90-minute scrimmage at Central Broward Regional Park in Lauderhill, Fla. in the lone exhibition action for MLS clubs on Tuesday.
RSL flashed a strong attack in the first of three 30-minute periods but were ultimately held off the board, then found themselves in a 1-0 hole in the 47th minute when a blast from 25 yards out beat 'keeper Chris Seitz to put Lynn on top.
Lynn held the lead until the 62nd minute, when RSL forward Fabian Espindola took a feed from Yura Movsisyan 35 yards out and darted to the top of the penalty area, beating the Lynn 'keeper low and to the right to knot the score at 1-1. RSL nearly took the lead a minute later when Movsisyan found himself alone 14 yards out, only to see the Lynn 'keeper smother his shot.
Lynn took the lead back for good in the 79th minute, using a two-on-one breakaway to get RSL 'keeper Nick Rimando off balance. RSL will next face the Colorado Rapids on Friday in a Rocky Mountain Cup preview.
