MLS Cup 2006 Trophy Tour to conclude Thursday at Dick's Sporting Goods in Frisco

FRISCO, Texas - The 2006 MLS Cup Trophy Tour will make its 50th and final stop at Dick's Sporting Goods at the Stonebriar Mall in Frisco. The trophy will be on location from 7- 9 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 9, giving fans the chance to have their picture taken with the trophy and win special MLS Cup memorabilia. Also on hand throughout the night will be Kelly Webster from 103.3 FM ESPN Radio. Webster, who is also the sideline reporter for FC Dallas television broadcasts, will be interacting with fans and providing SportsCenter updates.


Since being unveiled at a special reception at Tiffany & Co. in Dallas on Sept. 14, the "Alan I. Rothenberg Trophy" has traveled across the state of Texas and in to Oklahoma. Nearly 15,000 soccer fans have come out to see the trophy and have their picture taken with it.


Following the event at Dick's, the trophy will be handed off to Major League Soccer officials who will take ownership of it until Sunday when it is claimed for the first time by either the New England Revolution or Houston Dynamo, the two participants in the 2006 MLS Cup.


ABOUT THE ALAN I ROTHENBERG TROPHY
Created by Tiffany & Co in Parsippany, N.J., the MLS Cup Trophy is presented annually to the winner of the MLS Cup championship game. The design features a regulation-size soccer ball rendered entirely in sterling silver atop a fluid stand of twenty-two fluted strips.
