AC Milan have announced the club will not allow Kaka to play at this summer's Olympics in Beijing.

Brazil had hoped the playmaker would be available for selection especially after the Rossoneri club failed to qualify for the preliminary round of the Champions League.

However, Milan have confirmed only 18-year-old forward Alexandre Pato and 22-year-old midfielder Digao will be allowed to join their national team this summer.

A statement from the Rossoneri club read: "In view of the Olympic Games in China, Milan confirms that it will show no impediment for under-23 players like Alexandre Pato and Rodrigo Digao to join the (Olympic) national team.

"However, Milan will never grant an over-23 player like Kaka the same allowances considering the Brazilian champion is already a member of the Brazil national team, that is the National A team.

"The Rossoneri club does not consider it just that Kaka should be involved in the official games of Brazil's Olympic national team."

Kaka, who was Milan's top scorer this season with 15 goals, did express his wish to compete in Beijing in order to help Brazil win gold at the Games for the first time in the nation's history.
