The Week That Was ...

LA Galaxy

Saturday, May 10; Galaxy 1 - New York Red Bulls 2

The Galaxy's three-match unbeaten streak came to an end as Danleigh Borman and Juan Pablo Angel scored to give the visiting Red Bulls a 2-1 win over the Galaxy. Alan Gordon scored his third goal of the year in the 77th minute to level the score at 1-1, but Angel got behind the LA defense and scored a minute later, giving New York the win.

LA Galaxy

Tuesday, May 13; Galaxy 1 - Vancouver Whitecaps 2

An Alan Gordon goal late in the first half was not enough as Nicholas Adderly and Eduardo Sebrango scored on either side of halftime as the Galaxy fell 2-1 to the Vancouver Whitecaps on Tuesday night in Edmonton. Josh Wicks made his first start with the first team and made eight saves on the night as the Galaxy's record in friendlies this season fell to 2-2-3.

Galaxy Team Notes

KLEIN IS GOING STREAKING:
If Galaxy defender Chris Klein starts against FC Dallas on Sunday afternoon, it will be the 93rd consecutive game in which he has appeared in and started, tying Kevin Hartman for the longest consecutive games started streak in MLS history.

The last time that Klein did not start or appear in an MLS game was on June 4, 2005 when, as a member of the Kansas City Wizards, he missed a 1-1 draw at New England with Achilles tendon soreness. Since that day, he has started each of his team's 92 regular season games, playing the full 90 minutes in all but five of those contests.

A 10-year MLS veteran who has played for the Wizards and Real Salt Lake, as well as the Galaxy, Klein ranks ninth in MLS history in games played (271) and 10th in minutes played (22,733). Since joining the Galaxy in June 2007, he has played in and started all 27 regular season games that the club has played, playing the full 90 minutes in each.

BECKHAM EARNS ENGLAND RECALL: David Beckham has been named in Fabio Capello's 31-man squad which will play the United States at Wembley on Wednesday, May 28 and in Port of Spain against Trinidad and Tobago on Sunday, June 1. The Galaxy captain leads the club with four assists this season and his tied for second on the team with three goals while playing the full 90 minutes in all seven of the club's games.

Beckham is scheduled to be available for selection on Saturday, May 24 against Kansas City before joining the rest of the England team a day later.

THREE HEAD TO TOULON: Joining Beckham on the international stage will be defenders Michael Gavin and Julian Valentin, as well as forward Bryan Jordan, who have all been named to the U.S. Under-23 National Team for the Toulon International Tournament in France. The three Galaxy players are part of Peter Nowak's 22-man squad that will play Turkey, Ivory Coast and Italy in group play beginning on May 21. If the U.S. finishes first or second in it's group play, it will advance to the semifinals which will be played on May 27 and either the third place game or tournament final on May 29.

Of the three players, only Valentin has previously trained with the U-23's, while Gavin's only National Team camp came in 2004 with the U-18's while Jordan has never been part of the National Team setup at any level prior to his inclusion in this squad.

LOOKING AT THE OPPOSITION: FC Dallas head into this weekend's match with a 2-2-3 record, leaving them in a tie with the Colorado Rapids for first place in the Western Conference, one point ahead of the Galaxy. They fell 2-1 at Real Salt Lake last weekend, with Kenny Cooper scoring his fifth goal of the year, good for second place in MLS behind Landon Donovan. Dallas is 1-1-1 at home this season but suffered a 1-0 loss to New England their last time out in front of the home fans.

The two sides played to a 0-0 draw in a preseason friendly in March and met three times last year, with FCD winning the series, winning two of the three games. The Galaxy's lone win against FC Dallas in 2007 came on Sept. 23 when Chris Klein's second half goal gave LA a 2-1 win, starting a five-game winning streak.

All-time the Galaxy are 14-12-4 against FC Dallas in regular season play and a 6-3-0 mark against Dallas in the postseason, eliminating them from the playoffs in 1998 and 1999.
