Mid-Week Update: Back in the states

David Beckham and the LA Galaxy are glad to be back on American soil.

CARSON, Calif. --
The LA Galaxy are back in the United States following the completion of their Asia Tour 2008 presented by Herbalife and will hold two training sessions at The Home Depot Center this week. Following Friday's training, the club will depart for Dallas where the Galaxy will play their final preseason game. Ruud Gullit's squad will face FC Dallas in a charity match on Saturday night, with all proceeds benefiting the U.S. Fund of UNICEF.

That match is on the road but the Galaxy will open the home portion of the schedule on Thursday, April 3 when they take on the San Jose Earthquakes at The Home Depot Center. There are only a limited number of tickets remaining for this game as the Galaxy host their longtime Northern California in their return to Major League Soccer. Tickets to this game and all other Galaxy home matches are on sale now, starting at just $15.


Galaxy Team Notes

SINGLE GAME TICKETS ON SALE NOW: The start of the 2008 MLS season is just a few weeks away and now Galaxy fans can purchase single game tickets to all 15 Galaxy home games. Single game ticket prices start at just $15, giving fans in the Southland one of the best sports and entertainment values around.


Prices for 2008 Galaxy single game tickets are as follows: Fieldside ($275 per ticket), Club ($150 per ticket), Sideline ($80 per ticket), Corner ($50 per ticket), 200 (C) Level ($42 per ticket), Endline ($36 per ticket), General Admission ($25 per ticket) and 200 (W) Level ($15 per ticket).


The 2008 season kicks off at home on Thursday, April 3 when the Galaxy host their Northern California rival San Jose Earthquakes. Tickets are going fast for the first meeting between these two long-time rivals since 2005 so fans should be sure to buy their tickets today.


FAMILY FOUR PACKS NOW AVAILABLE: As a special bonus for families, the Galaxy will offer Family Four-Packs to five select games during the 2008 MLS season. For the low price of $99, families will receive four great seats to a Galaxy game, four hot dogs, four sodas, four and a parking pass. Family packs will first be offered at the Galaxy's home match with the defending MLS Cup champion Houston Dynamo on Saturday, April 19 at The Home Depot Center. This match kicks off at 7:30 p.m.

LAST PRESEASON GAME UPCOMING: The Galaxy will head back on the road on Friday when they travel down to Texas for a special charity match against FC Dallas. The FC Dallas Foundation Charity Game will serve as a benefit for the U.S. Fund of UNICEF. The Galaxy enter this game with a record of 2-1-2 so far in the preseason and are unbeaten in their last four contests with two wins and two draws.


Following an opening round loss to Gamba Osaka at the Pan Pacific Championship, the Galaxy defeated Sydney FC and Shanghai Hong Kong United while tying FC Seoul and a South China Invitation Team before falling in a penalty shootout in each match. Carlos Ruiz leads the Galaxy in preseason scoring with three goals, while Alan Gordon has two and Ely Allen, David Beckham and Josh Tudela have all scored once.


REGISTRATION OPEN FOR SERIE DE CAMPEONES: Boys aged 7-18 and girls aged 14-20 can now register for the year's first installment of the Galaxy's Serie de Campeones, which is a youth tournament that will be held four times this year. Winners of the first three tournaments will be invited to participate in the fourth tournament in November. Galaxy representatives will be on-site to scout for possible invitations to the club's developmental team, the Galaxy Rios.


The first tournament is being held at Fremont Intermediate School on March 30 and April 6. COZMO & THE EASTER BUNNY CELEBRATE WITH THE SECOND ANNUAL EASTER EGG HUNT: The Los Angeles Galaxy Foundation and The Home Depot Center Charitable Foundation will host the Second Annual Easter Egg Hunt on Friday, March 21 at 12:30 p.m. at The Home Depot Center. Children ages 1-10 are welcome to participate in the annual hunt, which will see Cozmo and the Easter Bunny entertaining the children. Special thanks to Snookies Cookies and Nestle for donating treats to this year's event.


MEDIA PARKING AT TRAINING: All media members are asked to enter through Gate D, off Victoria Blvd., and to park in Lot 17 when attending Galaxy training sessions. Members of the media who park in Lot 6 during training sessions may be ticketed now that school is in session at California State University - Dominguez Hills.
