Mexican World Cup veterans to be immortalized in limited-edition Chivas USA bobbleheads

Paco Palencia and Ramon Ramirez will be the first two bobbleheads given out.

CARSON, Calif. - Ahead of this summer's FIFA World Cup in Germany, Major League Soccer team Chivas USA today announced the creation of a special 'Chivas World Cup Veterans' bobblehead series, honoring current Chivas USA and Chivas Guadalajara players who have represented Mexico in the world's greatest sporting event.

The bobbleheads are miniature replicas of four legendary Chivas internationals: Chivas USA forward Juan Francisco Palencia, Chivas USA midfielder Ramón Ramírez, Chivas USA defender Claudio Suárez and Chivas de Guadalajara goalkeeper Oswaldo Sánchez. The bobbleheads will be given away at four different Chivas USA home games during the months of June and July at The Home Depot Center.

Palencia (1998, 2002) and Ramírez (1994, 1998) have each represented Mexico at two World Cups, while Suárez (1994, 1998) and Sánchez (1998, 2002) are looking to attend their third tournament: both are currently on Mexico's provisional 26-man roster for this summer's World Cup, to be held from June 9 to July 9 in Germany.

The promotion begins on Saturday, June 3, when Chivas USA hosts the Colorado Rapids at 7:00 p.m. PT at The Home Depot Center, and Palencia's bobblehead will be given away. Ramírez' bobblehead will be given away on June 18, when Chivas USA hosts the Columbus Crew; Sánchez' bobblehead, on June 28, versus the Houston Dynamo; and on July 1, fans will receive Suárez' bobblehead versus FC Dallas.
