Metro Sports to air Wizards vs. Chivas

It was announced today that Metro Sports will be airing live the last regular season game ever to be played at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City Wizards' history this Saturday, October 7th, against Chivas USA at 7:30 p.m. CT. Currently tied with the New York Red Bulls for the fourth and final playoff post in the Eastern Conference, the Wizards close out their home regular season schedule this Saturday before next weekend's season finale against the Red Bulls at Giants Stadium, also to be broadcast on Metro Sports. Should Kansas City remain in its playoff position, it will play its last game ever at Arrowhead on Saturday, October 21st against D.C. United in the first leg of the MLS Cup Playoffs.

This weekend's telecast by Metro Sports will be the first home broadcast of a Wizards' match since their season opener in 1997 against the San Jose Earthquakes. The Wizards first returned to Metro Sports two weeks ago when the Kansas City sports station aired their road match against the New England Revolution. Sean Wheelock, the voice of the Wizards, will once again be on the call, as will Brad Porter during the Wizards' half-hour pre-game show from the Metro Sports studio.

After 11 wonderful seasons the Wizards will be playing their final games in Arrowhead as they will be moving to a yet to be determined temporary facility next season. In their 11 years Kansas City has compiled a 94-52-22 overall record in regular season play and an impressive 9-2-1 record in the postseason. This year the Wizards are 6-4-5 at Arrowhead.

Arrowhead stadium, the permanent home of the Wizards since the inception of Major League Soccer in 1996, has seen many great moments in the history of the team, including a 2-0 stoppage time victory over the Los Angeles Galaxy in the semifinals of the playoffs en route to their MLS Cup Championship in 2000. In 2004, Kansas City captured its first U.S. Open Cup Championship with a 1-0 victory over the Chicago Fire at Arrowhead.

The first 5,000 fans to pass through the gates at this Saturday's match vs.Chivas USA will receive a free commemorative team poster compliment of Pittcraft printing. Following the match, all fans can have their team poster (or any other SINGLE item) signed by the entire Wizards team at the Arrowhead Pavilion approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the game. There will also be a pregame concert by Los Abandoned beginning at 5:30 p.m. courtesy of National Gypsum.
