Lt. Gov. Quinn, Gutierrez fight Malaria

Illinois Lt. Governor Pat Quinn and Chicago Fire midfielder Diego Gutierrez will meet the media on Thursday, April 24, at 2:00 p.m., on the eve of the first-ever World Malaria Day. They will discuss the United Nations Foundation's Nothing But Nets campaign, whose mission it is to cover an entire continent with long-lasting insecticide-treated bed nets.

Every 30 seconds a child in Africa dies from malaria. However, it has never been easier to help save lives by sending preventative bed nets. For every $10 donation, Nothing But Nets sends an insecticide-treated bed net to a child in Africa.

In honor of World Malaria Day on April 25, 2008, Nothing But Nets partners and supporters nationwide are gearing up to help save lives. Major League Soccer, the National Basketball Association, and the Women's National Basketball Association have been engaging their fans, teams and staffs to donate.
