CARSON, Calif. - The Los Angeles Galaxy has selected Manhattan Beach resident Terry Davis to be the club's official artist for the 2007 season. In his role with the club, Davis will design three special, limited edition t-shirts to celebrate the 12th season in team history.

These commemorative collectibles are based upon original paintings that Davis has created in his Manhattan Beach studio. Taking elements of the surf, snowboarding and skateboarding communities that are synonymous with the region, and meshing those with the passion and tradition of the L.A. Galaxy, Davis has created a series of designs that will electrify all Galaxy fans.

"Terry Davis has created what amounts to limited edition works-of-art, and I think our fans will see that he has found a creative way of incorporating the past, present and future of the Galaxy," L.A. Galaxy President and General Manager Alexi Lalas said.

Davis, 38, is originally from Detroit but has lived in Southern California for the last 12 years. An accomplished artist and filmmaker, Davis has painted for more than 20 years and is known for favors painting the people and scenes of Southern California in his works. Davis has been commissioned to produce original artworks for the Mandalay Bay Hotel Casino in Las Vegas, the Bank of Madrid, Universal Studios, the Borgata Hotel Casino in Atlantic City and many others.

"With these designs," Davis said, "I was trying to create something less expected from what you might see in traditional sports merchandise. I was looking for something that was more design oriented, more artistic and inspired by the culture of our area. I'm excited for this opportunity and think that the Galaxy fans will be as well once they see the final product."

The first of the three t-shirts will be available at the Galaxy's home opener against FC Dallas on Thursday, April 12. Only a limited number of t-shirts will be produced and these will be distributed to the first 2,500 fans that enter The Home Depot Center. Davis' second original design will be unveiled to the public two months later on June 2 prior to the Galaxy's game against D.C. United. The third and final Terry Davis designed t-shirt will be given out on Sept. 8 when L.A. hosts the Colorado Rapids.
