Los Angeles Galaxy draws 0-0 with New York Red Bulls

CARSON, Calif. (Saturday, March 03, 2007) - The Los Angeles Galaxy drew 0-0 with the New York Red Bulls on Saturday morning at The Home Depot Center on the Campus of California State University, Dominguez Hills.

The best chance for either side in a balanced opening 45 minutes came late in the first half when Nate Jaqua crashed a header off the crossbar. Chris Albright started the attack by quickly taking a free kick and sliding a pass out to Cobi Jones on the right wing. Jones' ensuing cross found Jaqua in the center of the box and his header beat New York keeper Jon Conway, but not the crossbar, before being scrambled clear by the New York defense.

Peter Vagenas and Robbie Findley each had chances to give the Galaxy the lead in the first half, but were unable to find a way past Conway who kept the game scoreless going into the break.

The second half brought wholesale changes for the Galaxy, but still no goals. Landon Donovan, Kyle Martino and Gavin Glinton each went close but could not get their team on the scoreboard. At the other end of the pitch, L.A. goalkeeper Steve Cronin was a bit busier as he was called upon on a series of occasions to make saves. Former Galaxy forward John Wolyniec created a couple of chances for the Red Bulls, but Cronin was equal to the challenge and earned his third shutout in as many appearances this preseason.
