Los Angeles Galaxy announce new deal with KWHY-Channel 22 for 2007 season

CARSON, Calif. - The Los Angeles Galaxy have reached an agreement with Los Angeles television outlet KWHY - Channel 22 to continue as the Spanish language television home of the Galaxy, the club and the station announced today. As part of the agreement KWHY will continue to air Galaxy Deportivo the club's official Spanish language, weekly, half-hour show focused on team news and profiles. Galaxy Deportivo will premier its 2007 season on Saturday, March 24 at 3:30 p.m.

"Galaxy Deportivo has set the bar for Spanish language sports programming in Los Angeles," said Los Angeles Galaxy President and General Manager Alexi Lalas. "We look forward to many more years with KWHY in the Galaxy family, as we work together to provide our Hispanic Galaxy fans with quality Galaxy coverage."

The 2007 MLS campaign will mark KWHY's fourth year as the club's official regional Spanish language media partner. The new deal will feature a re-vamped Galaxy Deportivo that will provide soccer fans in the Southland with more extensive coverage of the historic 2007 Galaxy season. In addition, the show will continue its signature coverage of Galaxy players and fans in the Hispanic community.

Galaxy Deportivo will once again count on the familiar face of Elmer Polanco in front of the camera for the weekly half-hour show. Polanco is familiar with Galaxy fans, as he has done extensive work covering the team for various media outlets in the Los Angeles market, including at times serving as the voice and face for all Galaxy broadcasts on the station. Polanco will once again be joined by co-host Alejandro Navarro, for what will be his second full season as the show's co-host and producer. A long time Galaxy fan, Navarro joined the Galaxy Deportivo team in 2006, after a number of years of covering sports in Los Angeles for other local Spanish language television stations.

KWHY-TV is owned and operated by Telemundo, the fastest growing U.S. Spanish-language television network. Telemundo reaches 93% of U.S. Hispanic viewers through its 16 owned and operated stations and more than 50 broadcast affiliates. Telemundo is a wholly owned and operated subsidiary of NBC, the nation's leading broadcast network.
