His strategy against United was masterful. In the second leg of the conference semis against United, Osorio switched formations from three to four defenders, moving Conde back to the backline. He pulled Rolfe back to midfield and used Carr as a wide midfielder, leaving Barrett as the lone forward.


In the first leg in Chicago, Rolfe played at forward, Conde in the midfield, their natural positions and Carr came off the bench.


It certainly will be intriguing to see what type of lineup and formation that Osorio deploys for the Revolution.


If Chicago wins the whole enchilada, there wouldn't be an asterisk in the MLS record book stating that the Fire were opportunistic. Tell that to Red Bulls supporters, who would love to be in the Fire fans' shoes right now.
