L.A. Galaxy trade midfielder Santino Quaranta

The Los Angeles Galaxy today traded midfielder Santino Quaranta to the New York Red Bulls in exchange for a conditional pick in the fourth round of the 2008 MLS SuperDraft.

"This move was made to address salary cap and roster spot issues," Galaxy President and General Manager Alexi Lalas said. "We wish Santino all the best in New York and thank him for his service to the Galaxy."

Quaranta, 22, appeared in six games for LA this season, making three starts while also appearing in three of the Galaxy's four Reserve Division games. He joined the Galaxy on August 8, 2006 after spending the first five and a half years of his career with D.C. United. The Baltimore-native has appeared in 80 career regular season games and scored 17 goals, three of which came in his 18 games with the Galaxy.
