L.A. Galaxy sign forward Josh Hansen to developmental contract

CARSON, CA - The Los Angeles Galaxy have signed forward Josh Hansen to a developmental contract the club announced today. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not announced.

Hansen, a member of the Premier Development League's (PDL) Southern California Seahorses in 2006, joins the Galaxy after scoring eight goals and registering four assists in 15 games for the Seahorses this season. The former University of San Francisco star also appeared as a guest player and scored a goal in the Galaxy's Aug. 13 reserve division loss to Colorado.

"Josh is a hard-working young player who has earned the opportunity to play with the Galaxy," Galaxy head coach Frank Yallop said. "We hope that he can continue to develop and help the club."

A native of Phoenix, Ariz., Hansen played at USF from 2000-2003, highlighted by his selection to the 2002 First Team All-West Coast Conference team when he scored 10 goals and recorded five assists as a junior. Hansen finished his collegiate career with 21 goals and earned West Coast Conference All-Academic Team honors and was named to the 2002 NSCAA All-Region Team.

Hansen was a member of the 2005 Seattle Sounders club that won the USL First Division championship.
