CARSON, Calif. - The LA Galaxy today announced their schedule for the 2008 MLS regular season. The club will once again play 30 games, 15 at home and 15 on the road, in 2008, starting with their season opener against the Colorado Rapids at Dick's Sporting Goods Park on Saturday, March 29.
Of the Galaxy's 30 games in 2008, 20 will be able to be seen on the league's national broadcast partners, ABC/ESPN, Fox Soccer Channel, HDNet and TeleFutura. Highlighting the Galaxy's matches on national television is their visit to RFK Stadium on June 29 to play D.C. United. This match will be shown live at 9 a.m. (PT) on ABC as part of a doubleheader which also features the Euro 2008 Final live from Vienna, Austria.
The 2008 season will also see the Galaxy play six matches against their two California rivals, Chivas USA and the San Jose Earthquakes who return to MLS after a two-year absence. All six of these matches will be broadcast nationally. The Galaxy host Chivas USA on April 26 and July 10 and play them on the road on August 14. Galaxy Head Coach Ruud Gullit's side hosts San Jose in their home opener on April 3 and visit the Northern California club on June 14 and August 3, with both matches scheduled to be played at Oakland's McAfee Coliseum.
The Galaxy opens their 13th season of play on Saturday, March 29 against the Colorado Rapids at 6:30 p.m. (PT), live on Fox Soccer Channel and HDNet from Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colo. LA will play their home opener five days later on Thursday, April 3 when they host former head coach Frank Yallop and the San Jose Earthquakes at 7:30 p.m. at The Home Depot Center.
