LA to face Earthquakes in '08 home opener

The LA Galaxy today announced the schedule for their first two games of the 2008 Major League Soccer season, the 13th season of MLS, including their home opener at The Home Depot Center on April 3.

The Galaxy season will kickoff in Colorado on Saturday, March 29 at 6:30 p.m. (PT) when LA takes on the Colorado Rapids at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.

Five days later, one of the most intense rivalries in all of MLS is reborn as the Galaxy host the San Jose Earthquakes in their 2008 home opener at 7:30 p.m. (PT) on Thursday, April 3 at The Home Depot Center. The Earthquakes return to MLS, and their rivalry with the Galaxy, two years after the team was relocated to Houston.

In their past 12 season openers, LA has a record of 6-4-2 including a 0-0 draw with the MLS Cup champion Houston Dynamo at Robertson Stadium last season. Despite a 2-1 loss to FC Dallas last season, the Galaxy are even better in their first 12 home openers, compiling an 8-4-0 record, including a 1-1-0 mark against San Jose.
