Kids' world stops for Pachuca

Houston Dynamo

In a show of solidarity and support for the Houston Dynamo in their upcoming CONCACAF semifinal against Pachuca, one of the leading youth soccer clubs in the region is cancelling what their kids love best.

Playing soccer.

The Space City Futbol Club, a league that has a playing membership of 3,300, will cancel all practices next Wednesday so their players can attend the first leg of the important Dynamo series. 25 teams from the club, which has a total of 150 clubs and is located in Clear Lake and Friendswood, will be encouraged instead to travel to Robertson Stadium for the game against Pachuca.

"We just felt it is the right thing to do to support the Dynamo," said the league's past president, James Kitchens. "Giving up one night of practice is also well worth the benefits to our kids of watching a game of this magnitude."

Will other clubs follow suit? Space City's membership thinks so.

"I think it would be a great gesture across the area," said Kitchens.
