NEW YORK - Davy Arnaud of the Kansas City Wizards has been named Major League Soccer's Player of the Week for Week 24. Arnaud scored two goals against the Colorado Rapids to put the game out of reach as the Wizards won convincingly, 4-1.
Arnaud, a fifth round selection in the 2002 MLS SuperDraft, scored his third and fourth goals of the season for the Wizards, sealing the victory at home at Arrowhead Stadium. Arnaud's goals came in the 56th and 77th minutes, both assisted by Jose Burciaga Jr.
Arnaud has four goals and two assists this season and has started 26 of Kansas City's 28 games. The Wizards sit in fourth place in the Eastern Conference with 33 points, one point behind third-place New England.
In his fifth year in Major League Soccer, Arnaud has cemented himself as one of the league's most consistent midfielders. This is the second time Arnaud has been awarded Player of the Week honors during his MLS career (Week 14, 2004).
The Major League Soccer Player of the Week is selected each week of the MLS regular season by a panel of journalists from the Professional Soccer Reporters Association (PSRA).
