Kansas City Wizards Wives Club to hold teddy bear drive July 22 at Arrowhead Stadium

Prior to the Kansas City Wizards home match Sunday, July 22, against the Colorado Rapids, Wizards wives will collect teddy bears from fans to be donated to Children's Mercy Hospital. Beginning at 5:30 p.m. outside the Arrowhead Stadium gates, wives donning pink versions of their husband's Kansas City Wizards jerseys will collect NEW stuffed animals in exchange for player cards autographed by their husbands.

"We are very excited to be working with the Kansas City Wizards," Missy Stover, Program Coordinator for Children's Mercy Hospital said. "They are always a very energetic group that has done a lot for us. Stuffed animals are universal items that comfort children of all ages. It's nice that the Wizards are able to do something to comfort the children as they are away from their family and friends."

Wives will remain outside the stadium until 7:30 p.m. Following collection, Wizards players and wives will present the animals to patients of Children's Mercy.

"All the wives are really looking forward to this project," Wizards Community Relations Coordinator Erin Lawless said. "We have a great group of ladies that are community oriented and truly want to make a difference any way they can. This drive is just the beginning of the Kansas City Wizards Wives Club and its involvement in our community."
