In early March, the Kansas City Wizards broke ground and began construction on the Kansas City Wizards Swope Park Training Center, a world-class training facility at 63rd and Lewis Road. In just three short months, the Wizards completed construction of a new facility that rivals any other soccer-specific training center throughout the country.

The $3 million building and soccer fields will provide the most professional environment possible for players. The training center offers over 7,800 square feet of facility space and four soccer fields. The 7,000 square-foot main structure houses the players, coaching and technical staff, and the adjacent 800 square-foot building serves as a storage shed and turf maintenance area. The main facility offers a locker room, a treatment room, a training room with weights and cardio equipment and a players' lounge.

This training center was built with the purpose to not only serve Wizards players and coaches, but also the community around Swope Park. The Kansas City Wizards have a vision to share time, resources and a passion for soccer with young athletes throughout Kansas City. By making such a large investment in the Swope Park area, the Wizards are showing support for Kansas City and amateur athletics.

The dedication ceremony will be held at the Kansas City Wizards Swope Park Training Center at 63rd St. and Lewis Rd. It will begin at 5 p.m., and feature several speakers on behalf of the Parks and Recreation Department, the Mayor's Office, the City Council and the Kansas City Wizards. After the ribbon-cutting ceremony, guests will have the chance to tour the training center with Wizards players. Media will participate in a private walk-through of the facility at 4:30 p.m.

Food and drinks will be provided courtesy of Coco Bolo's Wood-Fired Grill and Cantina, Boulevard Brewing Company and the Parks and Recreation Department.
