Kansas City Wizards cement three-year TV deal with Metro Sports

The Kansas City Wizards are proud to announce an unprecedented broadcasting partnership with Kansas City's hometown sports leader, Metro Sports-Time Warner Cable of Kansas City's award winning local sports channel. This three-year deal will ensure that every Wizards home and away game that is not broadcast exclusively by a Major League Soccer network partner will be broadcast on Metro Sports.

"We believe it's an important step in building our brand in Kansas City and the surrounding region that every one of our matches is on television," Kansas City Wizards President Robb Heineman said. "We are pleased to be able to offer fans the chance to watch Wizards games and are looking forward to working with Metro Sports, Kansas City's hometown sports television station and one of the biggest supporters of the metropolitan sports community."

This partnership with the Wizards and Metro Sports will not only give fans ample opportunities to watch Kansas City's hometown soccer club, but will also give Kansas City Wizards players and the Wizards brand unprecedented regional exposure.

"Now that we're solidifying a television agreement, I think it shows the commitment of both OnGoal, Time Warner Cable of Kansas City, and Metro Sports to promoting soccer in Kansas City," Kansas City Wizards Midfielder Kerry Zavagnin said. "In the past, fans have had difficulties finding places that broadcast Wizards games and with the certainty that every game will be on television, it will make it easier for fans to access games in the long run."

The Wizards are also pleased to provide corporate sponsors with a dramatic increase in exposure to the entire Kansas City community and across the nation as well.

"We are thrilled about what this relationship with Metro Sports means for our corporate partners," Kansas City Wizards Director of Corporate Partnership James Buckman said. "This programming provides our partners with the means to connect their brand to a passionate audience of Kansas City Wizards fans."

In addition to broadcasting games, the Wizards and Metro Sports will host a weekly coaches show that will highlight recent games and include exclusive interviews with Wizards Head Coach Curt Onalfo and various Wizards players.

"We are honored to continue our partnership with the Kansas City Wizards," Metro Sports General Manager John Denison said. "We look forward to providing Kansas City Wizards fans with an entertaining product that will serve all sports fans in the community for years to come."

Financial details of the deal will not be disclosed.
