Kansas City Wizards announce Todd Adams as Vice President of Sales

The Kansas City Wizards are proud to announce the hiring of new Vice President of Sales, Todd Adams. Adams has extensive experience in ticket sales and promotions. He worked for the Columbus Crew of Major League Soccer in various roles beginning before the inception of MLS in 1996 until 2002. Under his direction, Columbus led MLS in tickets sales each season from 2000-2002.

"We are extremely excited to hire an executive of Todd Adams' caliber," Executive Vice President Greg Cotton said. "The fact that he is from the Kansas City area and is passionate about our sport is a huge advantage that will help him to lead our sales staff."

Adams will oversee all aspects of sales within the Wizards organization. He comes to the Wizards from the Kansas City Chiefs where he served as Manager of Ticket Sales for two years. Adams is excited to join the Wizards organization at this time.

"Joining the Wizards now is the chance of a lifetime," Adams said. "With the future construction of a new soccer-specific stadium in Kansas City, a new, entrepreneurial ownership group, and the privilege to work in a league that encourages creative, innovative ideas and positions itself as a family-marketed sport, I could not resist the opportunity to rejoin MLS."

While with Columbus, Adams was involved first-hand in the sales efforts surrounding the opening of Crew Stadium, the first soccer-specific stadium of this generation in the United States. His experience will be extremely valuable as the Kansas City Wizards move toward opening a new stadium in the metro area.

"Todd was in Columbus for the opening of Crew Stadium and the subsequent successful ticket sales period," Cotton said. "We know he will bring those best-practices to Kansas City, energize them in our market and help us drive demand in our new stadium."

Adams is excited about the opportunity to be part of the stadium effort a second time.

"On May 15, 1999, I was able to experience the grand opening of the first soccer-specific stadium built in this country of its magnitude," Adams said. "From then on, other MLS teams and owners followed. I cannot wait until this happens in Kansas City over the next few years."

Adams began his career in Columbus as an Account Executive and worked up through the ranks before eventually serving as Director of Ticket Sales and Director of Business Development before leaving to help with the formation of another soccer club and league. He was with the Atlanta Beat of the Women's United Soccer Association as the Assistant General Manager/Vice President of Sales from 2002-2003.

Adams, 35, was born in Lawrence, Kansas and grew up in Olathe. He attended Rockhurst High School and later the University of Kansas, receiving a Bachelor's in Advertising from the William Allen White School of Journalism. He has been married to wife Lisa for five years.
