KALL 700 Sports Radio to Debut "Reality Check"

SALT LAKE CITY - KALL Sports Radio 700 AM today unveiled the format for its new midday program, Reality Check, kicking off tomorrow, Wednesday, Feb. 6, in the 1-3 p.m. time slot. Hosted by on-air veteran Spencer Checketts and Utah Utes football color analyst Frank Dolce, Reality Check aims to assert itself as a unique local show that focuses not only on the hot topics of the day, but also dares to explore various pop-culture phenomena and local news, outside the boundaries of day-to-day sports talk.

"We are extremely excited about adding yet another piece of quality programming to our already strong line up here at KALL 700 Sports," said Bill Riley, KALL 700 Sports Program Director. "We feel that the combination of Spencer and Frank will complement nicely the already strong existing personalities on the radio station, from Dan Patrick to Jim Rome, Bill Riley and Bob Costas on weekends."

Reality Check gives KALL 700 Sports a full 6-hour afternoon block of Utah-based programming from 1:00 - 7:00 p.m. each weekday, serving as the lead-in for "The Bill Riley Show," the station's afternoon drive set from 3 - 7 p.m. Checketts and Dolce will explore the ever-evolving blurring of the lines between sports, entertainment, politics and sociological issues following the outstanding lead-in from the nationally-syndicated Jim Rome Show, Salt Lake's top-rated Sports Talk program.

"Spencer Checketts brings a unique perspective on the world of sports and is a familiar name to the Salt Lake sports radio community, with his work hosting pre- and post-game shows for Real Salt Lake, hosting post-game shows covering the Utah Jazz, plus his experience on weekend sports programs during the last six years," added John Kimball, KALL 700 Sports General Manager. "He has established himself as the one of the most respected on-air NBA analysts in the market, and has worked hard for the opportunity to host this program. Frank Dolce fits in perfectly with what we are trying to build here at one of Utah's premier heritage stations. He's been a fixture on the station for more than a decade on University of Utah football broadcasts and will compliment Spencer's personality very well. He will continue to help drive KALL's position as Home of the Utes, as well as delivering a broad wealth of sports knowledge to the station."

"I've been looking forward to this opportunity for a long time," said host Spencer Checketts. "I truly have a passion for radio and have spent the last six years learning from some of the finest names in the market. It's a great time to be affiliated with KALL; following Jim Rome and setting the table for Bill Riley is a perfect time slot for the show. I am looking forward to working with Frank, as his personality and knowledge will pay dividends moving forward. We will be honest, we will be bold, and we will take risks; the format will be unlike anything this market currently has to offer. I believe Utah sports fans are intelligent and passionate; I look forward to offering them something fresh and new."
