Joint statement by Salt Lake City and Real Salt Lake on contribution of $7.5 million to youth soccer complex

SALT LAKE CITY - Salt Lake City and Real Salt Lake are committed to fostering youth soccer in Salt Lake City. Over the past thirty days, Real Salt Lake has been working with Salt Lake City to finalize its contribution of $7.5 million toward the construction of a youth soccer complex at 2300 North and Redwood Road in Salt Lake City. Contribution of these funds will allow Salt Lake City to issue the voter-approved $15 million bond for the soccer complex at the appropriate time, which would enable the project to move forward.

Real Salt Lake has obtained a letter of credit from Zion's Bank for its contribution of $7.5 million. Some final technical details remain to be resolved, however, before the letter of credit is delivered to Salt Lake City. Salt Lake City and Real Salt Lake fully expect this process to be completed within the next few days, and will provide notice to the public when negotiations have been concluded.
