International Update

Toronto FC star Maurice Edu saw some time for the U.S. in a close loss to Spain in Santander.

Toronto FC was well represented on the international stage on Wednesday.

Maurice Edu played a full game for the U.S. team in a 1-0 defeat against Spain in Santander. It was Spain's final game before EURO 2008. The U.S. held a strong Spain side scoreless until the 79th minute when Xavi Hernandez scored the winner.

Greg Sutton and Jim Brennan played in Canada's 2-2 draw with Panama in Florida. Sutton started the game in goal, and Brennan came on at half time for his 45th international cap. Jaime Peters and Ante Jazic scored Canada's goals.

Two Toronto FC players were up against each other in a World Cup Qualifier. Amado Guevara came out on top against Marco Velez as Honduras beat Puerto Rico 4-0 in San Pedro Sula. Guevara played the full 90 minutes whilst Velez was sent off with seven minutes remaining for a second yellow card. The two teams meet again on June 14th.

On Tuesday, Tyrone Marshall didn't play in Jamaica's 5-1 win over St Vincent and the Grenadines. The defender missed the last two Toronto games with an injury but has now recovered and is currently away with the Jamaica squad.

Maurice Edu, Greg Sutton, Jim Brennan and Marco Velez are all expected to link up with the Toronto squad ahead of Sunday's game at Houston Dynamo (kick off 8:30 p.m. live on The Score).
