Houston Dynamo releases forward Ronald Cerritos

HOUSTON, TX - The Houston Dynamo have released Forward Ronald Cerritos, it was announced today.


"We would like to thank (Cerritos) for his efforts during the Dynamo's first season here in Houston. We will miss his leadership and experience as we move forward. We also wish him the best of luck as he starts a new chapter of his career", said Dynamo President and General Manager Oliver Luck.


The team's all-time leading scorer and assist leader, Cerritos did not enjoy the same degree of success while playing in Houston. During the 2006 season, he was scoreless in 15 games played, tallying only one assist.


Overall, the three-time MLS All-Star has played in Major League Soccer since 1997, participating with San José, Dallas, and DC United. Throughout his career, Cerritos has scored 70 goals and distributed 56 assists in 214 games played.


The Houston Dynamo, second in the Western Conference with 35 points, will play its next game against FC Dallas in Lamar Hunt US Open Cup quarterfinal action on Wednesday, August 23. Kickoff is slated for 8:00 p.m. CT.
