Houston Dynamo midfielder Brad Davis wins MLS Player of the Week honors for Week 12

Houston, TX - Houston Dynamo midfielder Brad Davis was selected as Major League Soccer's Player of the Week after recording his first career hat trick as the Men in Orange shut out Chivas USA, 4-0, on Thursday, June 21. Thursday's win marked Houston's fourth consecutive victory, which now has extended to five with a 1-0 win over Kansas City on Sunday, June 24.

Davis's first goal came in the 55th minute of the contest when Wade Barrett split the defense with a through ball, which Davis collected and drove into the upper right corner of the goal from the left side of the area. He notched his second goal with a shot to the lower right corner that slipped past a diving Brad Guzan in the 70th minute. To finish off his hat trick, Davis stepped to the penalty spot in the 75th minute and fired a shot into the upper right portion of the goal. Dynamo were awarded the penalty kick after Kansas City's Alex Zotinca tripped up Brian Mullen on the edge of the box.

In his 6th MLS season, Davis has 18 career goals and 32 assists, and is the first Dynamo player to record a hat trick since Brian Ching scored four goals against Colorado on April 2, 2006. The St. Charles, Mo., native now has three goals and three assists this season. Davis has played in 138 games, starting 110 and has recorded more than 9,500 minutes over his career.

This selection is Davis's second career MLS Player of the Week award. He earned the honor once as a member of the Dallas Burn in Week 17 of the 2004 season. This marks the second time this season a Dynamo player received this award. Dwayne De Rosario earned the honor in Week 5.

The Major League Soccer Player of the Week is selected each week of the MLS regular season by a panel of journalists from the Professional Soccer Reporters Association (PSRA).
