HOUSTON, TX - The recent tragedy at Virginia Tech University has prompted the Houston Dynamo to organize a special tribute and fundraiser to assist the University's Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund.
This tribute and fundraiser will take place on Sunday, April 29 when the Dynamo will square off against the Chicago Fire (6:00 PM CT).
To commemorate the event, the Dynamo will be wearing special uniforms sporting the Virginia Tech University colors (see attachment). These game-worn uniforms will be auctioned off with 100 percent of the proceeds going directly to the University's Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund.
There will also be two opportunities for fans to participate in the auction - one online and one at Robertson Stadium on April 29th.
Other activities and fundraising initiatives are being planned for this game. Further detail on these initiatives will be announced over the next few days.
"The event at Virginia Tech is a touching tragedy. This tribute is the Dynamo family's attempt to assist in the healing process in the Blacksburg community," said Dynamo President and General Manager Oliver Luck.
The Dynamo has established a special fundraising ticket offer for this game. For every ticket purchased through this special offer, $8 will be donated to the University's Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund.
